Support Legislation to Improve Project Delivery, Enhance Funding for the State and Provide Options for Regional Transportation Needs

RBC Position:   Support
Final Result:

Georgia’s economy is dependent on a transportation network that provides dependable mobility for both its people and its products.  Reforming the state’s planning and project delivery system to maximize efficiency is a vital first step.  However, Georgia should not wait to address critical funding issues while reforms are put into place.  Enhancing the state’s transportation funding mechanism and enabling regional solutions are important priorities that the general assembly should act on now.

The Regional Business Coalition supports legislation to improve project delivery, enhance funding for the state and provide options for regional transportation needs.

Support a Fact-Based State Water Plan that Focuses on Planning for the State's Growth in a Responsible Manner

RBC Position:   Support
Final Result:

Passed

The Regional Business Coalition supports a State Water Plan that includes these elements:

    • Providing solutions that meet the needs of each region’s population and economic growth must be a priority
    • The state should adopt a two-phase process that begins with research and evaluation first and develops policies second
    • Rulemaking authority for water issues belongs in the Department of Natural Resources
    • Maintain the current approach to regional planning
    • Each region should fund its own research and planning effort with state support
    • The Water Conservation Plan must set reasonable targets for regions to work towards
    • Language in the plan must be unambiguous and definitions must be provided
    • Land-use decisions must remain with local governments.
